Nona Garson

Nona Garson has represented the United States internationally for almost a decade. She was a member of the historic all female US show jumping squad at the 2000 Sydney Olympic games, as well as a team member at the 1998 World Championships in Rome. Other international successes include the winning Nations Cup in Drammen, Norway and Rotterdam as well as the team bronze medal at the 1995 Pan American Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Nona’s most famous equine partner is the Russian “Rhythmical”. The story of how the wily chestnut came to Nona is the stuff of legends. The diminutive gelding was traded with a few other horses for 150 used washing machines. Eventually Nona spotted Rhythmical as young rider’s horse in Europe. Nona saw past his small size to his incredible heart and talent and arranged for the horse to come to America. The pair clicked immediately and went on to win numerous grand prix including the Budweiser Grand Prix of Lake Placid, the Budweiser AGA Championship, and the Fidelity Investments Jumper Classic.

Nona has been an avid horsewoman since birth. She grew up showing hunters, jumpers and equitation and learned her skills by doing everything—mucking stalls, feeding, braiding—at her family’s The Ridge Farm in New Jersey.

In addition to Rhythmical Nona has an exciting group of young horses making their mark in the show ring.
